Clarendon and Courthouse sit side by side on Arlington's Rosslyn–Ballston corridor — two adjacent urban villages, each with its own Metro station. Together they form a walkable stretch of shops, restaurants, and offices along Wilson and Clarendon Boulevards, with quieter residential streets just a few blocks off the main corridors.
Housing near the two stations is mostly condos and apartment buildings, including newer mid- and high-rise construction alongside older garden-style buildings. Single-family homes take over on the residential streets a few blocks away.
